Hartela Oulu: a takt pilot that finished on time through Covid
Hartela built an elderly care rental building at Lintulammentie in Oulu, with business premises and shared spaces on the lower floors. The interior phase ran on a one-week takt, as Hartela's pilot with the method. 18 takts covered 14 takt areas and 79 apartments in 5 months, and the project finished on time.
“
The part that worked best was getting the subcontractors involved. We held the morning huddle once a week, and Mestamaster was really good at providing the status snapshot for each takt.

The project ran really well until the end, when Covid forced a lot of absences. I will use takt and Mestamaster on future projects too.
What was done
A new elderly care rental building in Oulu:
- 79 rental apartments in an elderly care building
- Business premises on the lower floors
- Common areas for the residents
How it was done
The takt was one week, agreed with the site management so that the site had an easy start at learning the process and the practices. The interior phase, the building of the apartments, was the part put on takt, beginning with the dividing wall between the living space and the bathroom. The morning huddle ran once a week rather than daily, and Mestamaster produced the status snapshot for each takt.
Results
The project finished on time, despite the absences Covid caused. The pilot went well enough that Hartela has since used takt and Mestamaster on several more of its projects.
