Hyvinkää hospital: whole floors renovated on a 5- then 2.5-day takt
Lujatalo renovated whole floors of HUS Hyvinkää hospital on takt, across both phases of internal construction. The takt was five days during the early heavy work and 2.5 days in the later construction phase. Only demolition was left outside it. 63 takts ran across 40 takt areas over 29 months.
“
Takt schedule was really helpful, it enabled more controlled working. Mestamaster app and their involvement helped in getting the process implemented and enabled the project flow really well.

The Customer
Lujatalo is part of Luja Group, one of the biggest companies in the Finnish construction industry and a pioneer in using digital methods on site. The building belongs to HUS, the largest healthcare provider in Finland.
What was done
Takt covered the internal construction of the hospital, floor by floor:
- Phases I and II of internal construction run on takt, whole floors at a time
- Only demolition was left outside the takt
- Scheduling workshops facilitated with the subcontractors, plus site management training
How it was done
Phase I used the five-day renovation takt as a learning experience of both takt production and Mestamaster. In phase II, Mestamaster facilitated the scheduling workshops with the subcontractors and trained site management — considerably less work than phase I, because the site already had the method behind it.
Results
The main benefits were excellent scheduling and building the different work phases in the right order. Takt time also enabled better risk control and resource efficiency.
